CIMSA FK UNSOED

CROWN (Cervical and Breast Cancer Risk Awareness for Women’s Needs)

Hi, CIMSA!

Breast cancer is the highest case of cancer in Indonesia, with around 16,6% of 396.914 cancer cases in 2022. Cervical cancer on the other hand, places 2nd in amount of case after breast cancer with the number being 9,2% in 2022. The number of breast and cervical cancer cases also increases each year, Banyumas in particular, there were 196 cases in 2010, followed by an increase to 243 in 2011, and to 268 in 2012. The high number of cases can be decreased and the progression slowed down by having good knowledge and awareness of breast and cervical cancer prevention. Coinciding with international breast cancer awareness month in October, SCORA CIMSA Unsoed held activities to increase knowledge and awareness about breast and cervical cancer.

Main Activity CROWN with dr. Setya Dian Kartika Sp.OG

CROWN (Cervical and Breast Cancer Risk Awareness for Women’s Needs) is an activity from SCORA CIMSA Unsoed which consist of pre-activity training, main activity (breast and cervical cancer education), and ground campaign. Pre activity was held in Joy Coffee and Eatery on October 25th 2024 by inviting Elisa Fitria Ningsih from PETRA CIMSA Unsoed as trainer, attended by OC (FK Unsoed’s medical students). Main activity which consisted of breast and cervical cancer education was held in SMP Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah, with 24 students as participants on October 26th 2024 and the material being delivered by dr. Setya Dian Kartika Sp.OG. The ground campaign was held on the 27th in GOR Satria Purwokerto in which the OCs campaigned to the citizen of Purwokerto.

The event has gone quite as well as expected. The pre-test and post-test score has increased by quite a margin, with the pre-act increase of 24,44% and main-act increase of 28,23%. The ground campaign was also able to reach 15 citizens of Purwokerto in total.

The benefit obtained from the series of CROWN activities are that the OCs, students at SMP Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah, and the citizen of Purwokerto have become more knowledgeable and aware about breast and cervical cancer as well as how to prevent them. Hopefully, they can implement their knowledge in real life and share those knowledge to friend and families.
