Adolescence is a transitional phase from childhood to adulthood from 10 to 19 years of age. In this phase, various changes often occur and have a significant impact on the lives of adolescents. Changes that are often faced by adolescents are generally related to sexuality and changes in the structure and function of the reproductive organs. These changes often lead to various problems, especially if adolescents’ knowledge regarding reproductive health and puberty is still insufficient. Therefore, SCORA CIMSA Unsoed wants to hold an activity to increase knowledge and awareness regarding the importance of maintaining adolescence’s reproductive health.
REACH (Reproductive Education and Awareness of Puberty for Adolescent Health) is an event from SCORA CIMSA UNSOED that aims to increase knowledge and awareness about the importance of maintaining reproductive health to adolescents. This event consists of a series of events, such as pre-activity training, exercise, capacity building, workshop, and social media campaign. Pre-activity training is held in Building B, Faculty of Medicine, Jenderal Soedirman University on June 11st 2023 by inviting Balqis Dianiasri Bestari and Raudha Shafa from PETRA CIMSA Unsoed as trainers. Exercise, capacity building, and workshop about how to maintain adolescence’s reproductive health was held in Mulia Harapan Orphanage on June 17th 2023 with material delivered by members of SCORA CIMSA Unsoed. In the end of this activity, we shared infographics about the importance of caring for adolescents who are entering puberty and ways to maintain reproductive health for adolescents in Instagram @cimsaunsoed on June 27th 2023.
The event has gone quite well as expected. Cumulatively, pre-activity training was attended by 14 participants with increasing values from pretest to post test regarding puberty and adolescent reproductive health by 99.23%. In Harapan Mulia orphanage, several activities such as exercise, capacity building, and workshop about how to maintain adolescence’s reproductive health was attended by 13 participants with increasing values from pretest to post test regarding puberty and adolescent reproductive health by 87,69%.
The benefits obtained from the series of REACH activities are adolescents could understand the importance of maintaining adolescence’s reproductive health. Hopefully, many adolescents can be aware and maintain their reproductive health in order to avoid many diseases.
